Outreach to Mabul Island (S2)

Daily Diary of Outreach of Mabul Series 2

-this diary is just a real story of our experience to be shared for all. May we could get the real picture of being a part of the ‘Outreach to Mabul Island’ community service experiences. There was no intended intention of complaining as we only want to share the actual reality to all. All the merits / advantages are from Allah and the bad were our mistakes / weaknesses and we asked the forgiveness as we will improve our achievement through these experiences InsyaAllah-

Gathered & stayed at Food Court of LCCT (waiting for departure of flight to Tawau) *all of the participants benefited their time by having enough rest and preparation for the next mission’s day.

5.20am : Checked in at S29 counter

6.05am : Boarding to P12 gate (having Subuh prayer at the nearest musolla)

*while boarding- although we just knew the “new policy” of AirAsia as ‘1 passenger 1 hand luggage’. Alhamdulillah, we managed to get pass the security check successfully. Hehehe -with the entire donation boxes that brought up into the plane as our hand luggage, by ignoring and pass by the security guard-

7.11am : On the plane & flew (for about a 2 hour & 45 minutes journey). It was a beautiful morning. Our photographer snaps some picture of the sunrise. Subhanallah, it’s so amazing.

10.12am : Landed safely at Tawau Airport.

Aidil, Ikmal and Hisyam (team from KK) had already at the airport.

Having “branch” - breakfast + lunch- & the menu was nasi kuning..sooo delicious while waiting for Dr. Denon team to arrive

11.45am : Departed from the airport to Semporna (for about an hour journey)

By 2 buses & 2 accompanied Hilux

The weather along our journey from the airport to Semporna; Alhamdulillah, it was good although we’ve got rumors on the bad weather at Sabah.

1.08pm :Arrive safely at Semporna town. Our boat had ready at the harbor. (preparing and moving the items from bus to the boat. all grab the chance on having their own pose)..very nice pic.

1.30pm :Departed by boats to Mabul Island (for about an hour journey)

2.30pm : Arrived at Mabul Island safely. Villagers including the children helped us to bring the donation item from the boat to the mosque.

Gathered at the mosque, meeting with the villager’s leaders

* On the meeting, the sisters quite shocked as the placement of them on their foster families was ‘1person for each family’ instead of ‘a pair for each family’. Huhuhu (although actually the not too prepared adopted daughters were a bit shy and felt awkward as the confidence was not there to be alone placed in each family)

Prepared for the distribution of donation

*during the preparation, representative for each family came and being introduced officially with their adopted daughter.

4.15pm : Distribution of donation

*all had ran smoothly and Alhamdulillah, we were happy observing there was a big numbers of responds from the villagers who came although. we’ve got a “sudden surrounded experience” at the last moment of distribution. Hence, it was quite funny & sweet to be remembered. Kami hanya mampu tersenyum dah bersandar di dinding masjid (ni za’a) =P

6.15pm : Performed maghrib prayer, held a first tazkirah by Ajie, talk about bersyukur performed isya’ prayer & had dinner. Alhamdulillah, all the food were soooo delicious until the participant got worried on their ‘increasing weight’ on the last day- after having a daily [tambah 2x nasi tiap kali makan..ada yg smpai 3,4 kali ni..sapa la tu.,=P]

*on today’s task, the mini clinic session had been postponed to the evening as we had opened two counters for circumcision. Unfortunately, the teenager’s circumcision had to be postponed on the next series as we were out of stock on the tool used for them. Yet at last, the mini clinic was opened partially when Dr. Nurul was not assisting Dr. Dinon for the immediate needs of the villagers. *this was only for those who were sick and need immediate help.

i. Team A- Continuation of circumcision *still with 2 counters

ii. Team B- Final touch up on mini library

iii. Team C- Continuation of mini tuition sessions & the motivational sessions for the children and teenagers

*they held quizzes for the children where the children must translate a Malay word into English as they were given prize (stationeries; pencil/sharpener/etc) for each correct answer.

(Based on our observation, the children actually were very clever as they easily picked up what they had learned.
