Alhamdulillah.. Malaysian Unity Secretariat (MISI) has succesfully achieved its objectives on the Outreach to Mabul Island (Series I) which had been conducted on 21st - 23rd November 2009. 11 participants including 2 officers from STAD and MISI advisor and 8 MISI members participated in this programme. This programme aimed to reach out the Muslim community and also to increase their spiritual and self-development of the community.
From our observation and survey in this programme, it is believed that we can contribute more to this community in the future. These are some outcomes which we've observed
from the programme:
A. THE PROBLEMS OF THE VILLAGERS.
1. Difficulty in applying for legal personal identity
2. Irrigation
3. Water supply
4. No clinic
5. Education
B. THE REQUESTS
1. Be on behalf of the villagers to apply for personal identity documents
2. More donations on the good facilities of the village such as lights on the walkways,
and well
3. To install a mini-clinic
4. Books for the kids reading materials
5. Clothes
6. Paint the mosque
7. A mass cleanliness programme
C. THE AIDS THAT COULD BE PROVIDED
1. Reading materials / books
2. Clothes
3. Painting
4. Some activities that involved the groups of mothers, kids, and teenagers.
5. Medical check-ups
Hopefully the next time we go to Mabul Island, we are able to help these people as they are our brothers in Islam. We also hope that the state authority such as the Government of Sabah, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Negeri Sabah (JHEAINS), Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS), Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) and local authority can pay their little attention to this abandoned community as they are the legal citizen but for the personal identity document, they treated as PATI in their own country.
WE LOVE OUR BROTHERS IN ISLAM..
